Over Sexualisation With Pop Stars And Pop Culture.

Over Sexualisation of Pop stars and Pop culture in 2015?Surely Not.
I’ve never really understood why pop stars feel the need to over sexualize their music videos, or an online presence of themselves, I mean don’t get me wrong the majority of so called pop stars or musicians who have a huge following and fan base behind them don’t feel the need to over sexualize everything they do. But after witnessing the mess that is Nicki Minaj’s anaconda video I feel like that’s the case now a day’s. So why now all of a sudden in 2015 why is it now seen as okay to use your social platform to over sexualize almost everything you do?

Why is it such a huge problem and how it did all start? Was it due to Rihanna’s raunchy video for pour it up? Or did it start when Miley Cyrus made an appearance back on to pop scene in 2013 when she released we cant stop? , I have no clue but maybe its because everyone seems to think if you sexualize a product or female enough it will sell more copies.

Its not just music videos that seem to be using over sexualize as a tool to make more money and to sell more copies, newspapers, magazines, films and video games have jumped on this bandwagon as well, for example just take a look at the representation of Angelia Jolie in tomb raider in the films and video games, Angelina is a key example of over Sexualisation just look at what happened two weeks ago when Angelina attended a important meeting about the Syrian refugee crisis people commented on the fact she wasn’t wearing a bra, Angelina is just one example of women being over sexualized within the media industry, just like Rihanna and Nicki Minaj are seen as the key women in the r and b music industry, who are nine times out of ten seen as being over sexualized.

Could this be linked to the fact that these women are proud of their figures and are in fact body confident? Or is it really just a money making tool, that gains you more publicity in the public eye and sells more copies of the god awful pop song they’ve written? Although its not just women who seem to be over sexualized in the majority of their music videos or when performing, its more so a lot of male r and b artists rappers and artist such as Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Drake and Trey Songz, that some how feel the need to over sexualize women and themselves in their music videos.

Maybe over Sexualisation within music videos is all to do with the media, maybe its due to millions of little girls who see an instagram post made by pop star Arianna Grande of her and fellow pop star Iggy Azalea and think “wow when I grow up I want to be just like her “or that maybe males are taught from a rather young age that its okay to treat women like dirt and that we should feel honored when we are used as a sex tool in the media and not actually a human with feelings and we are apparently just on this planet to please you, or is it just purely because if you over sexualize a women enough in a music video, the public eye, a movie or a video game it just sells more copies and creates more money for the media?
